Mari\u00ebtte Goddijn, gynaecoloog in het AMC, haar oratie uit ter gelegenheid van haar benoeming (in september 2016) tot hoogleraar voortplantingsgeneeskunde aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<p>In deze rede, getiteld &#8216;Nieuw leven, delicate keuzes in de voortplanting&#8217;, vertelt Mari\u00ebtte over het ontstaan van nieuw leven bij paren die nog niet het door hen zo gewenste kind hebben en welke keuzes dit allemaal met zich mee kan brengen. Aan de hand van enkele voorbeelden neemt ze iedereen mee in de wereld van fertiliteit.<\/p>\n<p>Mari\u00ebtte laat zich kritisch uit over de soms te snelle introductie van behandelingen en medicijnen. Zij pleit ervoor te zorgen dat er gedegen onderzoek wordt gedaan voordat iets nieuws algemeen ingevoerd wordt.<\/p>\n<p>Het is gebruikelijk dat hoogleraren ter ere van hun benoeming een oratie houden. Bezoekers brengen bij die gelegenheid vaak een cadeau mee. Mari\u00ebtte Goddijn besloot die bezoekers te vragen om geen cadeau te kopen maar een donatie te doen aan een project van Freya.
